New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of attempting to influence the party’s upcoming flagbearer primary, claiming the party still harbours resentment over his role in the 2016 elections.
Speaking to supporters in the Okaikwei South Constituency, Dr. Bawumia said the NDC often reacts with insults whenever his name is mentioned, a response he attributes to the significant impact of his campaign during the 2016 polls.
“The 2016 campaign was a heated one, and that is why the NDC does not like me,” he remarked, stressing that he remains undeterred by such criticisms.
He further alleged that the NDC is trying to sway delegates to vote for another NPP candidate. “Do you know that the NDC does not want you to vote for me in the primary, but rather for someone else? Why should another party decide who becomes the candidate of your party? I do not believe the people of Okaikwei South will allow that,” Dr. Bawumia said.
