The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has cleared the delayed allowances for education sector employees and also disbursed their December 2025 salaries.
While the department had initially indicated that the outstanding allowances would be paid alongside December salaries on Wednesday, it confirmed that the payments were actually processed earlier, on Tuesday.
In a statement issued last month, the CAGD explained that two categories of education sector allowances, originally scheduled for November 2025, were postponed due to a technical issue.
“To avoid delaying the payment of November salaries for all Government of Ghana employees, the processing of the affected education sector allowances was temporarily suspended,” the statement read.
The department apologised for the inconvenience caused by the delay and reassured workers of its commitment to improving payroll processes to prevent similar occurrences in the future. It also expressed gratitude to affected employees for their patience and understanding.
According to the CAGD, the decision to temporarily halt the allowances was made to ensure that the November 2025 salaries of all government workers were paid on time. The outstanding allowances were subsequently cleared together with the December salaries, resolving the backlog.
