Authorities say the driver at the centre of the fatal road crash that left former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua seriously injured is likely to face prosecution for reckless and dangerous driving.
Sources close to the ongoing investigation reveal that preliminary findings by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) point to excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking moments before the collision — violations regarded as severe traffic offences, especially in cases involving loss of life.
Investigators are said to be completing case documentation for submission to the Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division, which is currently working alongside state prosecutors to determine the specific charges to be filed. According to officials familiar with the process, prosecution for dangerous or reckless driving resulting in death is among the options being strongly considered.
Anthony Joshua reportedly sustained a fractured leg in the crash, while two close associates and members of his team — Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele — tragically lost their lives.
Further updates are expected as authorities move toward the next phase of legal and forensic review.
