Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service sprang into action on Wednesday following a major multi-vehicle accident near the Kintampo Waterfalls.

The GNFS reported receiving the emergency call around 3:59 p.m., dispatching a rescue team that arrived at the chaotic scene roughly an hour and a half later.

A total of 26 passengers were trapped and rescued, while firefighters secured the area to prevent flames from spreading. Three individuals sustained injuries and were quickly transported to Kintampo Municipal Hospital for treatment.

Investigations revealed that several vehicles were involved in a chain collision, including a Mercedes Sprinter bus that slammed into parked cars and caught fire. Preliminary reports suggest the crash was triggered during a towing operation of a Kia Bongo truck that had previously fallen into a pit.

The Ghana National Fire Service has reminded all motorists to exercise extreme caution, particularly during towing operations, to prevent similar tragic accidents.
