GILCOM Agribusiness left a mark on this year (2024) farmers day celebration by supporting Enterprising Youth In Rice Production with cash, agrochemicals and etc.
On 8th November 2024, the GILCOM Agribusiness Firm celebrated the 40th National Farmers’ Day at Mafi Angie, Central Tongu District.
The theme for this year’s celebration was, ‘Building a Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security’. The ceremony was attended by farmers, traditional leaders, government officials, and many other dignitaries.
Several award items were given to some distinguished farmers. As part of the ceremony, the GILCOM AGRIBUSINESS FIRM, a company that seeks to create the widest network for agricultural value chain actors to promote agriculture and agribusiness sponsored an award item for the most enterprising youth in rice production. A cash cheque of Ghc2000, spraying machine, Wellington boot, cutlass, and agrochemicals were donated.
Mama Sename III, the paramount queen mother of Mafi Traditional Council, presented the donation on behalf of the company. She encouraged the awardee, Mr. Alfred Adzimah to continue to work hard.
The chairman of the company, Mr. Bright STN Hormeku-Adjei express optimism about the prospect of rice production in country. According to him, Ghana has the potential to produce the quantity of rice she need and even export if the right investment is made along the rice value chain.
Mr. Elvis M. Asafo, the CEO mentioned that it’s part of the company’s plan to support youths that are interested in agriculture. He emphasised that their company is ever ready to support all actors in the agricultural value chain especially those interested or are into rice production and/or processing.
