The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has expressed firm belief in the leadership abilities of Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, stating that she would be well suited to lead the nation if she is presented as a presidential candidate in the 2028 elections.
He indicated that the Vice President represents a credible option for the National Democratic Congress, pointing to her extensive public service background and her current role at the top tier of government.
Mr Iddrisu noted that her experience in office, along with her character and professional achievements, places her in a strong position to assume higher national responsibility should the party choose her.
“She serves as Vice President of the Republic and, given her stature, she is more than capable of governing this country. I have had the opportunity to work closely with her, and 2028 is still some distance away,” he said in an interview.
He also described Prof. Opoku-Agyemang as a stabilising personality within the NDC, adding that her calm approach and inclusive leadership style help strengthen unity in the party while providing direction.
Mr Iddrisu emphasised that although the next election is still ahead, the Vice President’s ability to rally support and maintain cohesion makes her a compelling figure for both party leadership and national governance.
