Former Assin Central MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, has pledged to strengthen Ghana’s economy by promoting local production and reducing reliance on the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Speaking to party delegates in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency on Tuesday, Agyapong highlighted the potential of Ghana’s agricultural sector to generate employment opportunities, especially for young people.
“For too long, it has been business as usual seeking IMF bailouts while the resources are right here. Have faith, we can do it. We can build 46 cassava factories across Ghana. Global pharmaceutical companies need starch, and we can establish industries to provide jobs for our youth,” he declared.
The former lawmaker urged delegates to support him, asserting, “Vote for Ken Agyapong and I will make it happen.”
Agyapong’s campaign is gaining momentum in the Ashanti Region, with Ahafo North MP, Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh, recently endorsing his bid.
