Samuel George, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, has issued a stern warning to Ghanaians involved in assisting foreign nationals to illegally acquire Ghanaian passports and Ghana Cards, describing such actions as a criminal offence.
The minister revealed that authorities are compiling strong cases against individuals engaged in these illegal activities and urged citizens to stop immediately.
“I want to send a clear message: helping others acquire Ghanaian nationality unlawfully is a criminal act,” he stated. “If you are a Ghanaian, desist from this practice and do the right thing.”
In an interview , Mr. George cautioned that anyone ignoring the warning would face the full force of the law, with no leniency once arrests are made.
He disclosed that a raid conducted on the same day implicated a Ghanaian landlord from Prampram and noted that a previous operation had taken place in Dawhenya, highlighting that the crackdown is ongoing and widespread.
The minister stressed that the law would be enforced without discrimination, emphasizing: “Irrespective of who you are or where you come from, if you break the law, we will act decisively to deter others.”
