Nigerian senator and businessman Ned Nwoko has reportedly filed for sole custody of his children with Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, escalating a highly publicised dispute between the estranged couple.
The news came to light through an emotional post shared by Regina Daniels on her official Instagram account, where she accused Nwoko of deliberately preventing her from seeing their children and of leveraging media attention during the custody proceedings.
“People may believe that I am happy, but no mother can be at peace while separated from her children,” she wrote, expressing the emotional toll of the situation.
According to the actress, her last interaction with the children was in mid-November, after which Nwoko reportedly dismissed her nannies and allegedly coerced them into making false statements against her. She denied accusations of violence and alcohol abuse that Nwoko is said to have levelled in front of the children.
“Ned dismissed all my nannies, pressured them into making false statements accusing me of violence and alcohol abuse in front of the children, and has since filed for full custody, despite already having the children in his care,” Daniels stated.
Regina also criticised her husband for repeatedly posting pictures of their children online, suggesting that the move was more about attracting media attention than fulfilling parental duties.
“It is hard to believe that a public figure, especially one with legislative experience, would not understand that sharing our children publicly at this time would attract scrutiny,” she said, questioning his intentions.
The actress described Nwoko’s actions as immature and said she had initially remained silent to avoid escalating public controversy. Despite the circumstances, she emphasised her commitment to her role as a mother and vowed to assert her rights to see her children.
“I may be young, but I am a mum. I enjoy being a mum and I miss being a mum. It’s so crazy if their father thinks I won’t come for my children. I will definitely see my kids soon,” she wrote.
Ned Nwoko has not issued any public response to the allegations or the custody filing.
The dispute comes amid months of reported marital tensions between the couple, whose high-profile relationship has frequently captured public attention since their marriage.
