Mr. Prince Ntiamoah has expressed concern over what he describes as the growing trend of young people rushing into active politics immediately after serving in Students’ Representative Council (SRC) leadership without a proper understanding of the realities of national politics.
Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, Mr. Ntiamoah argued that while SRC leadership offers useful exposure, it does not automatically prepare individuals for the complex dynamics, pressures, and responsibilities that come with partisan politics at the national level.
According to him, politics goes beyond popularity and activism on campus and requires a deep appreciation of ideology, strategy, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
He noted that many of these young entrants underestimate the financial demands of politics, including fundraising, logistics, and sustained grassroots engagement. Mr. Nitamoah stressed that without adequate preparation and mentorship, such individuals risk being overwhelmed or compromised by the system they seek to change.
Prince Ntiamoah therefore called for intentional political grooming and education for young leaders before they transition from student leadership into mainstream politics. He encouraged political parties, civil society organizations, and experienced politicians to invest in structured mentorship and training programmes that would help aspiring politicians understand fundraising ethics, party structures, and long-term political planning.
