Information Minister-designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says that the restrictions placed on social gatherings by the President on Sunday, January 31, 2021, do not include marriage ceremonies.

President Akufo-Addo on Sunday, January 31, 2021 addressed the nation that following the rise of covid-19 cases in the nation, the government will reinforce restrictions on public gatherings like parties, weddings and to some extent marriages.

But Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in a presser says marriage ceremonies are not part of the restricted gatherings but rather, parties and funerals are what has been banned.

Consequently, he says, marriage ceremonies, which are held in the churches, and mosques where there is a strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols can go on.

He made this known in a press briefing on the government’s covid-19 response in the country.
