Lawyer and Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) lecturer, Tanko Zakaria Musah, has cautioned the United States to reassess its approach to global affairs, stressing that international power dynamics have significantly changed.
Speaking on GTV Breakfast show on the reported arrest of Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro by U.S. authorities, Musah warned that actions once taken unilaterally by powerful nations now carry broader geopolitical consequences in an increasingly multipolar world.
According to him, the dominance once enjoyed by the United States is being steadily challenged by emerging global powers and strengthened regional alliances.
He argued that arresting a sitting president of a sovereign state risk escalating tensions and undermining international law. Musah emphasized that the U.S. must recognize that countries are no longer willing to accept what he described as “selective application of justice” driven by power rather than principle.
The GIJ lecturer further noted that diplomacy, not force or coercion, should guide modern international relations. He urged global institutions and powerful nations to respect sovereignty and engage through dialogue and multilateral frameworks.
