Evangelist Papa Shee has made a startling revelation regarding the funeral of the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba, stating that the musician’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, was never formally notified about the burial that took place on December 13, 2025. Sharing the details during an appearance in an interview, Papa Shee explained that Akosua Serwaa, who currently resides in Germany, only heard about the funeral through rumours and chose to surrender the situation entirely to divine judgment.

According to him, the confusion surrounding the funeral arrangements extended beyond Akosua Serwaa. Several members of Daddy Lumba’s immediate family, who also live abroad, were unable to attend and had appealed for the burial to be postponed so that the entire family could gather to honour the late musician properly.

Papa Shee further revealed that he himself stayed away from the ceremony out of respect for senior family members who had withdrawn from the planning process. Instead, he remained at home in worship, believing it was the most honourable decision under the circumstances.

“I didn’t go to the funeral because I was home worshipping,” he explained. “I couldn’t disregard the elders who had decided not to attend. Akosua Serwaa is in Germany, and other close relatives are also overseas. That is why they wanted the funeral delayed so everyone could be present.”

He continued, emphasising the emotional weight of the situation: “Akosua Serwaa has surrendered everything to God. She was never officially told about the funeral date on the 13th ,she only heard it through hearsay.

With Lumba’s immediate family absent, it is up to them to determine whether another ceremony will be held. People forget that Akosua Serwaa played a major role in shaping Daddy Lumba into the legend he became.”

Despite the internal family tensions and the absence of key relatives, the funeral drew thousands of mourners to Heroes Park at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. Fans, friends, and admirers gathered in massive numbers to bid farewell to Charles Kwadwo Fosu, the man the world celebrated as Daddy Lumba, one of Ghana’s most influential musical icons.
