New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has launched a blistering verbal attack on former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, insisting that the former Vice President plays absolutely no role in his life.
In a fiery outburst, Mr Agyapong made it clear that he does not spare a moment thinking about Dr Bawumia, stressing that, to him, the former Vice President is completely irrelevant. According to him, even acknowledging Dr Bawumia’s presence would stir emotions he prefers not to confront.
“I don’t have time for Dr Bawumia. In my life, he does not exist. If he did, I might end up committing a crime. That is how I see myself,” he declared, leaving no doubt about the depth of his frustration.
Mr Agyapong went further to allege that Dr Bawumia was the unseen hand behind recent controversial comments made by Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC. He suggested that Abronye’s remarks were not made independently but were influenced by forces aligned with the former Vice President.
Turning his attention to the upcoming NPP flagbearer election, Mr Agyapong issued a stern warning against what he described as attempts to manipulate the internal contest. He insisted that although he has no interest in engaging with his opponents, he will not tolerate any form of electoral malpractice.
I don’t have time for them, but that does not mean they should rig the election. I know the Electoral Commission officials my opponents have contacted, and I’m aware of plans to use the party’s internal security to intimidate delegates,” he alleged.
Mr Agyapong also expressed deep disappointment over what he sees as a lack of gratitude for his efforts during the last national campaign. He lamented that despite vigorously campaigning for Dr Bawumia, he received no acknowledgment after the election.
“Did I not campaign for him? After everything, did he even call to say thank you? Some of his supporters insulted me. The only loyal person from his side was NAPO,” he said, visibly pained by what he described as betrayal and disrespect.
