The Ghana Police Service has moved swiftly to discipline five officers, ordering their immediate suspension from active duty following allegations of misconduct linked to the improper display of police uniforms on social media platforms.
The decision was communicated through an official statement issued on December 16, 2025, and endorsed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah, acting on behalf of the Director-General of Public Affairs.
Those affected by the interdiction, whose ranks span from sergeant to policewoman, have been named as:
-
No. 45545 G/Sgt. Samuel Agbemanyale
-
No. 50300 G/Cpl. Isaac Mpere
-
No. 51816 G/Cpl. Samuel Agbo
-
No. 56563 G/Cpl. Charles Oduro
-
No. 14494 PW/Const. Elizabeth Dicka Korkor
Under police regulations, interdiction entails the temporary withdrawal of an officer from operational responsibilities while investigations are ongoing. Although barred from performing policing duties, the officers remain members of the Service and are required to comply with all disciplinary procedures.
The Service further explained that officers placed on interdiction are typically entitled to a reduced portion of their monthly remuneration, often amounting to half of their normal salary, during the period of investigation.
According to the statement, the matter has been forwarded to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), which has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive inquiry and recommending appropriate sanctions where necessary.
The PPSB serves as the internal oversight body responsible for enforcing ethical conduct, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, addressing public complaints against officers, and tackling issues related to corruption and professional misconduct within the Service.
Although the statement stopped short of detailing the specific incidents, the reference to unauthorised uniform use on social media points to a violation of established internal rules governing the public portrayal of the police institution.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, integrity, and professionalism among its personnel, stressing that any conduct that undermines public trust will be addressed decisively.
