The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has assured customers across its service zones of uninterrupted and dependable electricity supply throughout the Christmas festivities, stating that comprehensive measures have been put in place to meet increased demand during the holiday period.

The power distributor acknowledged that electricity consumption typically rises significantly during the Yuletide season and emphasised that maintaining a stable supply is critical to households, businesses, and social activities during this time. As a result, ECG says it has rolled out a detailed operational plan to guarantee efficient service delivery.

As part of this arrangement, the company has activated a three-tier operational strategy designed to ensure round-the-clock response to any power-related challenges. This includes the establishment of a 24-hour standby service, the deployment of sub-transmission teams, and the continuous engagement of fault response units throughout the holiday season.

Speaking in an interview, the Director of Communications at ECG, William Boateng, explained that the initiative reflects the company’s renewed focus on improving customer experience and strengthening service reliability.

According to him, specialised system reliability teams have been assigned to constantly monitor ECG’s network across its operational areas. These teams will be tasked with identifying faults such as local power outages and system trippings and ensuring that such issues are addressed swiftly to minimise disruption.

Mr Boateng further noted that sub-transmission teams will focus on managing the high-voltage network, particularly during peak demand periods, to prevent overloads and ensure consistent power flow. Meanwhile, dedicated fault servicing teams will remain on active duty to respond promptly to all reported electrical faults.

He encouraged customers to make use of ECG’s established fault-reporting channels, including the company’s call centres and official social media platforms, to report any service interruptions for immediate attention.

“On behalf of ECG, I wish to reassure our valued customers that we are fully committed to delivering a reliable and stable power supply throughout this Christmas season and beyond. We have activated our entire service chain—from power distribution to customer response—to ensure continuous and efficient service delivery,” Mr Boateng stated.
