Popular Ghanaian actress and television personality Nana Ama McBrown has publicly confirmed that she is divorced from her husband of twelve years, Maxwell Mensah.

Making the revelation during an interview on TV3’s New Day, McBrown explained that the decision to end the marriage was mutual and amicable, with no ill feelings between the former couple.

“I’m the happiest right now. Yes, I am divorced, and I can say it proudly. My husband and I are on good terms. We talk every day, I still visit our home, see my in-laws, and everything is fine. We did it respectfully, without bitterness. We were simply tired, so we agreed to part ways,” she said.

The actress emphasised that despite the separation, she continues to maintain a warm and cordial relationship with Maxwell Mensah and his family. She noted that while her ex-husband and in-laws wanted the marriage to continue, she felt it was no longer possible to stay together.

“He is a good man, and I still care for him, but I was tired of the marriage,” McBrown revealed.

The couple’s union was formalised under customary law, meaning the divorce only required the involvement and agreement of both families.

McBrown expressed that her greatest joy from the marriage is their daughter, Maxine, whom she described as a precious gift.

“I will not marry again. I can have children, but I won’t remarry,” she stated.

Reflecting on their twelve-year marriage, she added:

“Twelve years is a long time. When you see celebrities who have been married for 12 years, applaud them.”

Prior to her announcement, speculation had circulated about the state of the couple’s relationship, with some reports suggesting that alleged extramarital issues on Maxwell Mensah’s part contributed to the breakdown of the marriage.

Nana Ama McBrown and Maxwell Mensah were married for 12 years and share a daughter, Maxine.
