The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a viral video showing him driving dangerously during a livestream, an act which reportedly led to a serious road accident.
In an official statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and gained widespread attention after the footage circulated across social media platforms.
According to the statement, Peller was captured driving at high speed while broadcasting live, behaviour described by the police as extremely reckless and capable of endangering the lives of other road users. Authorities noted that the resulting crash could have caused significant injuries to both the influencer and the public.
The case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigations. The police confirmed that Peller will face court proceedings once the investigations are concluded, and the outcomes will be communicated to the public.
Reacting to the incident, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, warned social media personalities and content creators against promoting or engaging in hazardous behaviour online.
“Such reckless conduct will not be tolerated. We remain committed to safeguarding public safety and ensuring strict enforcement of traffic regulations,” CP Jimoh stated.
