Two suspected robbers have been apprehended in Asokore Mampong, near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, following the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old woman during a robbery.

The deceased, identified as Silver Ngozi, was reportedly attacked and stabbed with a knife during the robbery, which led to her death.

The suspects, Farouk Iddris, 20, a motorbike mechanic and rider, and Salim Mohammed, 19, a motorbike mechanic and rickshaw rider, were arrested after intelligence-led police operations.

At a press briefing, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, explained that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had robbed the victim, with one allegedly stabbing her with a knife.

The arrests took place on December 12, 2025, at around 9:00 pm, when a joint team from the regional police headquarters and the Kumasi anti-robbery unit apprehended the suspects at their hideout in Aboabo, Kumasi.

During a search of Farouk Iddris’ room, police recovered a machete, knives, and other offensive weapons. The suspects reportedly admitted to committing the robbery during interrogation.

DCOP Osei Akoto stated that the suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be charged in court.

Additionally, the police confirmed that an iPhone 11 Pro, stolen from the deceased during the robbery, has been recovered and retained as evidence.
