The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the nationwide teacher promotion examinations will proceed as scheduled on Monday, December 29, and Tuesday, December 30, emphasizing strict rules that only candidates with official index numbers may participate.

In a statement signed by Ag. Deputy Director-General Prof. Smile Dzisi on December 26, GES assured teachers that the promotion exams will be conducted as planned.

The schedule is as follows: Assistant Director II and Principal Superintendent candidates will sit on Monday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, while Assistant Director I and Deputy Director candidates will write on Tuesday within the same three-hour morning window.

GES stressed that candidate shortlisting followed approved eligibility criteria and documentation requirements, meaning some applications were not considered. Shortlisted candidates have received SMS notifications with their Staff ID, Index Number, and assigned Examination Centre.

The Service issued a strict warning: only teachers issued an index number may report to examination centres. Those without an official SMS or index number will not be allowed to write the exam.

For teachers who believe they were wrongly omitted, recourse is available. Individuals who received their last promotion in 2021 or earlier, meet qualifications, and did not receive an SMS or appear on the shortlist should submit their last promotion letter and proof of application to their regional education office for review.

On exam day, candidates must present a valid National ID and clearly write their Staff ID and Index Number on all papers.

GES called for full compliance, promising a smooth, credible, and well-coordinated promotion exercise.
