he Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation has dismissed media reports alleging that the government plans to hand over the Nyinahin bauxite deposits to businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

In a released statement, the corporation clarified that no such arrangement exists and stressed that, under the current mineral resource framework, all bauxite concessions remain under state control through GIADEC.

According to the statement, “Reports indicating that the Government intends to allocate bauxite concessions to any private individual are inaccurate and should be disregarded.”

GIADEC explained that, consistent with President John Dramani Mahama’s policy to increase national gains from mineral resources, the corporation currently holds leases covering all identified bauxite deposits in the country.

It added that six leases — including those at Nyinahin — were secured in June 2025 and are presently before Parliament for approval.

The corporation further stated that this management structure is designed to retain oversight of the concessions, encourage investor participation and strategic partnerships, and ensure continuity of the policy beyond the current administration.
