Six people have been confirmed dead following a devastating domestic fire that gutted a seven-bedroom residential building at Abuakwa Manhyia, near Wadoma Hotel, in the Ashanti Region.

The tragedy occurred in the early hours of Monday, December 22, 2025, reducing the entire house to ashes and leaving residents of the area in deep shock and mourning.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire broke out at about 12:53 a.m., triggering the immediate deployment of a fire appliance from the Nkawie Fire Station.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 1:15 a.m., led by a Station Officer II, but were confronted with an intense blazethat had already spread throughout the building. Reinforcements from the Twedie Fire Station were subsequently called in to assist in controlling the inferno.

Despite the prompt response, the fire completely destroyed the house and all its contents. Six severely charred bodies, believed to be members of the same family, were recovered from the rubble and handed over to the Police to aid investigations.

Authorities have since begun probing the cause of the fire as the community grapples with the devastating loss.
